Making making making. That’s what we do! Here’s the latest… The new Longwalls album, tentatively titled The Gold Standard, is nearing completion. 11 songs (!) are in the hopper over at Bridge Sound and Stage and we’re close to mixing time. Look for a fall release. In the meantime, the new solo album by Dan London—I Will Take You Back—will be released this summer. Produced with long-time co-conspirator Mike Quinn at Moontower Studio (Q Division), IWTYB is a late 70s drive-in movie sort of record that takes you back in time. And of course our DIY wunderkind Kurt von Stetten is always at work. Follow along on his stellar music blog. His latest demo—I work figuratively (mostly… mostly)—is an absolutely wonderful bit of garage-tastic power pop. He’s got another record in him for sure, no word on timing just yet. More soon, stay tuned!
The Boston polar vortex will soon yield a bountiful crop of new musics. The Longwalls are deep into the recording of their 5th album at Bridge Sound and Stage. This one is going to be a full-length (first since their debut) and so far is turning out to be gloriously all over the map. Meanwhile Dan London is working hard with old pal Mike Quinn at Moontower/Q Division and is nearing completion of his second full-length solo album. And of course Kurt.. well, he’s recording songs per usual (follow along on his blog) and will likely have another record out by the end of the year. Oh, and Brandon might make a quiet acoustic EP. Stay tuned.. it won’t be long now!
Ryan’s Smashing Life has long been one of, if not the, best music blogs in Boston. So we’re pleased as punch that Kurt von Stetten’sBroken But Not Undone has made the blog’s best of list for 2013! It’s an impressive list; we’re proud to be included. Check it out.
Love is growing for the Kurt von Stetten / Bonnie Trash collaboration! Their first single, Edith, was song of the day on New Lease and featured on Quick Before it Melts. Meanwhile, the fine folks at Grayowl Point wrote, “Edith is rough, loud, and full of energy, and should be a welcome treat to anyone who is looking for something with a little more passion.” Nice. Stream below, download over on Bandcamp. And look out for the release of their collaborative EP, Lynden Snakes, in early in 2014.
Alan cross has described “Those That Know,” the first track off Broken But Not Undone—the new LP by Kurt von Stetten—thusly, “This song is erratic, insecure, passionate and sweaty all at once. Gloriously chaotic.” Wow. We’d say that describes the whole album… it also sorta describes Kurt when he’s doing the BMX thing. But that’s another story…
Just one week after the release of his latest LP—Broken But Not Undone—our own Kurt von Stetten is back with yet another project. Yikes. The track Edith is the result of a collaboration born on Twitter (!) with Toronto/Guelph-based band Bonnie Trash. Kurt is heavily featured on this first track; look for a collaborative EP from the whole gang under the moniker Lynden Snakes in early 2014. Stream above, download for free over on Bandcamp. Enjoy!
