The debut solo album by Longwalls bassist Dan London is on sale now! A smart mix of Ray Davies and east coast cool, Happy to See Me is a midnight run through the trials and tribulations associated with becoming comfortable in one's own skin. The album features help from old friends Mike Quinn (Moontower / Q Division), and our own Kurt von Stetten doing what he do. Check. It. Out.

The Longwalls' Careers in Science album has also landed on a few of best of 2011 lists by the fine folks at The Noise, Twangville, and Beat the Indie Drum! Thanks to all! Was a good year in SMR land. On to the next. 

Kurt von Stetten's Cyclops has made into a couple of stellar "best of" lists for 2011. Ryan's Smashing Life called Kurt a "prolific genius" and Music Savage says "The album deepens with each listen, and I’ve very much enjoyed hearing it again and again." We certainly agree. Thanks guys!

In case you missed it, Kurt von Stetten produced a video for the track Code of Fisherman off his new album Cyclops. Kurt hand painted all the elements before scanning them into his Commadore 64 to get his animation on. Check it!

Happy day! The new Kurt von Stetten album—Cyclops—is on sale today! The album, available on CD and gorgeous 10" vinyl, is Kurt's 6th in 6 years. Quite a feet. It's official. Kurt von Stetten's new one, Cyclops, will be released on Tuesday, December 13 via CD, 10" vinyl, and digital downloads. This one's a bit edgier than Pyramid; 12 songs about fantasy and the fever of awesome ideas—everything from war to fashion to indie rock kids on fixed gear bikes (they have all the answers). Stay tuned for a new video too. Busy times!

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of Gatsby's fisrt ever show—November 1, 2001—we've put together a collection of live material culled from radio and TV performances between 2001 and 2005. The fine folks over at Culture Bomb have some very nice things to say about The Longwalls' Careers in Science Album! Lines like "clash-like rhythms mixed with an Elvis Costello, jangling guitar" make us positively giddy. And we like gumbo. And, we like that we left them wanting more...

Kurt von Stetten is at it again. He's teaching himself animation, learning Final Cut Pro, and getting darn close to a new album. Check out his blog for his latest, er, creations. Consider yourself warned.

Static Motor operator Brandon C. Walsh has written a post talking about his experiences as a DIY label working with Pandora. It's an interesting tale; Music Think Tank even ran it on their front page. Phew... finally got a date all squared away! Friday, April 8 at Precinct we'll be releasing The Longwalls' Careers in Science CD with our good friend Glenn Yoder and our new friends Found Audio. It's The Longwalls' first show in since August (!!); they're rarin' to go and really look forward to seeing everyone again. Can't wait!

The Longwalls new album will be released Tuesday, March 1! Careers in Science is The Longwalls' pulpy post-pop run at sci-fi triumph and failure—equal parts spaghetti western and 1950s futurism. Stay tuned for CD release show details. Prolly April. Can't wait!!!

The Longwalls played live On The Town with Mikey Dee at WMFO back in May. The set includes tracks from Field Guide, the new Dark Academy EP, as well as a few new songs set for release on a new EP early next year. Download the whole thing for free!! 

A big thanks is in ordere for all who came out to The Longwalls' Dark Academy release show at the Lizard Lounge on May 1. It was great night and we're so happy we were able to share it with so many friends--old and new. You guys are the best. On to the next!

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who took part in the The Longwalls' Zombies! shoot this weekend down at Plymouth Rock Studios. The crew (Louie Jannetty Director,Josh Bethoney Producer, and Sean English, Dir. of Photography) were brilliant and amazing (and patient) and all the extras who worked hours on in end, in makeup, in the rain.. well, we're incredibly thankful.. and we can't wait to see you all again soon! The Longwalls video shoot for Zombies starts next Friday night! We'll be shooting Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning. Gonna be a long weekend but we're pretty excited about it. In preperation for the video, we've just souped up the Zombie track with some new guitar work and some Hammond organ. Very cool. Otherwise we officially begin work on the new EP on October 16. Gonna be a busy fall. More soon...

Join us Friday, July 30 at Tommy Doyle's in Hyannis and Saturday, July 31 at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge for our Throwback Summer Weekend.
