The debut solo album by Longwalls bassist Dan London is on sale now! A smart mix of Ray Davies and east coast cool, Happy to See Me is a midnight run through the trials and tribulations associated with becoming comfortable in one's own skin. The album features help from old friends Mike Quinn (Moontower / Q Division), and our own Kurt von Stetten doing what he do. Check. It. Out.
Kurt von Stetten'sCyclops has made into a couple of stellar "best of" lists for 2011. Ryan's Smashing Life called Kurt a "prolific genius" and Music Savage says "The album deepens with each listen, and I’ve very much enjoyed hearing it again and again." We certainly agree. Thanks guys!
In case you missed it, Kurt von Stetten produced a video for the track Code of Fisherman off his new album Cyclops. Kurt hand painted all the elements before scanning them into his Commadore 64 to get his animation on. Check it!
Happy day! The new Kurt von Stetten album—Cyclops—is on sale today! The album, available on CD and gorgeous 10" vinyl, is Kurt's 6th in 6 years. Quite a feet. Some nice reviews are already in from our pal Dysonsound and In Tune (The Daily News), and there's more on the way. We couldn't be more proud of this effort. Oh, and check out the video Kurt made for the track Code of Fishermen. We hope you dig, and if you do, tell a friend. Cheers!
It's official. Kurt von Stetten's new one, Cyclops, will be released on Tuesday, December 13 via CD, 10" vinyl, and digital downloads. This one's a bit edgier than Pyramid; 12 songs about fantasy and the fever of awesome ideas—everything from war to fashion to indie rock kids on fixed gear bikes (they have all the answers). Stay tuned for a new video too. Busy times!

Kurt von Stetten is at it again. He's teaching himself animation, learning Final Cut Pro, and getting darn close to a new album. Check out his blog for his latest, er, creations. Consider yourself warned.
Static Motor operator Brandon C. Walsh has written a post talking about his experiences as a DIY label working with Pandora. It's an interesting tale; Music Think Tank even ran it on their front page. It's generated a bunch of interesting comments, check it out! And should you hunger for more, Brandon writes about music and branding at his blog, Calmstock.net.
Hey ya'll. Enjoying your summer? Us too. Keeping busy too. The Longwalls have a show coming up Friday, August 12 at Tommy Doyle's in Cambridge. The Longwalls have just released a haunting, stop-motion video for the song Ghosts off 2010's Dark Academy EP. Check it out! The video was produced by our good friend Ryan Murphy, be sure to let him know what you think!! Enjoy!
"The pure sound of these songs provide such visceral pleasure." Some very kind words indeed on The Longwalls' Careers in Science from the Boston Globe! Meanwhile, Oh So Fresh! Music thinks the album is a bit like "modern Springsteen, but with an indie touch." We'll take it!!
The Longwalls new album Careers in Science is on sale today! $8 CD (limited pressing) / $5 download via Bandcamp. We're super proud of this one.. we hope you'll give it a listen!
Hey ya'll! A few things to check out: (1) Brandon's colleague Alex talks about Careers in Science album art design over on the Sametz blog! (2) Ride the Tempo gave the album a nice 'lil mention. Curious about The Longwalls' upcoming Careers in Science album?!? Head on over to Alan's blog where he's talking about the thinking behind each song, posting early demos, live recordings, and a few of the final cuts. Some good readin' we reckon..

The Longwalls new album will be released Tuesday, March 1! Careers in Science is The Longwalls' pulpy post-pop run at sci-fi triumph and failure—equal parts spaghetti western and 1950s futurism. Stay tuned for CD release show details. Prolly April. Can't wait!!!
Kurt von Stetten and American Chronicle's Kendra Rae Beltran talk Jeopardy, science, BMX, photography and—of course—Pyramid. It's a fun read. Check it out!

Our pal Jonathan Perry of the Boston Globe has written a really nice story on Kurt von Stetten and Static Motor. We're beside ourselves with pride. Check it out! And tell a friend!!
Our pal Kyle over at Music Savage calls Kurt von Stetten'sPyramid "a fantastic example of an amazing, talented guy who seems to have no limits to what he can do". Kyle is a whole lot smarter than us, so it must be true. (Thanks Kyle!)
Kurt von Stetten's Pyramid is available now on iTunes!! (It's a $1 cheaper on Bandcamp, just sayin'...). What's more?? Fav track Aioki got a tasty little mention from the Tesszechuan. Mmm mmm!
Our pals from WMBR's Pipeline kicked off last night's show with Aioki off Kurt Von Stetten's new album, Pyramid. Radio gold kids, radio gold. Stream the whole show here.
The reviews are in for Pyramid! Well, the first one anyway. Our pal over at Dysonsound has given Pyramid one hell of a nice writeup. He knows way more about music than we do, so we'll all take him at his word, ok?!?
It's a big day! We launch the new site and release Kurt von Stetten'sPyramid—available exclusively through Static Motor in CD/digital formats (via Bandcamp). It's a brilliant effort, give it a spin!

That's right, the latest effort by DIY wunderkind Kurt von Stetten, Pyramid, will be on sale (CD/Download) Tuesday, November 16. This 12-song set is certainly Kurt's most dynamic effort to date. Yes, we're gushing. In the meantime, head on over to Bandcamp as we'll be releasing his entire back catalog for free download over the next few weeks leading up to the release. Good times.
Great news from indie-rock land! Our own Kurt von Stetten has finished his new album and we'll be releasing it here, there, and everywhere a little later this fall. 12 new songs, a whole lot of instruments, and some fine production work make this Kurt's best effort to date. At least that's what we think, and we know. Trust us. Stay tuned for more...
A big thanks is in ordere for all who came out to The Longwalls' Dark Academy release show at the Lizard Lounge on May 1. It was great night and we're so happy we were able to share it with so many friends--old and new. You guys are the best. On to the next!
If not, you should. Kurt is busy blogging new songs in preparation for new full-length release!! Lots of manic, new, home-brewed, fuzz-rock is on the way. Check it out.
Boston's own The Noise can't recommend The Longwalls more highly, and says Dark Academy has "all the earmarks of future classic and gets better with every listen." Gee, that's really nice of them. Read it all here (scroll down a bit).
The fine folks over at Boston Band Crush have some very nice things to say about The Longwalls' Dark Academy. Check out here. Frankly, we're flattered. Dark Academy is available now on CD, white vinyl, and MP3 download via iTunes and Bandcamp. Go get it!
The fine folks at Twangville have posted a nice review of The LongwallsDark Academy EP. They think we do a little Jayhawks and mix in a little Shins. But I swear, there ain't no wah-wah anywhere. Haven't used a Wah peddle since 'ought one or so. Anyway, read it here. And if you want to buy it, which you certainly should, it's not available just yet. Still waiting on the vinyl. Stay tuned!!!!
