Wow, it’s been a minute. But things be percolatin’

Hey there! Been a while. Wow. Well, we’ll have you know we’ve been keepin’ on with the keepin’ on. Here’s what’s up. For those following along at home, you know it’s about time for the annual Kurt von Stetten release. Yep. We’re looking at November for the next one. No title yet, but there will be some limited edition lathe cut vinyl. Very cool. Stay tuned.

In other news, The Longwalls are also back at it and are putting the finishing touches on record #6. It’s going to be called Red Shirts, and we’re hoping for some vinyl for this one as well. Look for a release in early 2019-ish.

Meanwhile… The Longwalls are also very excited to be part of the 8th Annual JP Music Fest coming up on September 8. It’s free and fun for the whole family. Details here. Longwalls hit the stage in the 1pm hour. AND.. we’ll have a limited edition cassette featuring 2 tracks from the upcoming record—for free give-away!

Look out for more shows in the fall and a release party for the new record.

Ok, that’s it for now. We won’t be strangers. Promise.

The Longwalls JP Music Fest

Live video. Kind words. Alan represents The Longwalls at Outlaw Roadshow 2016 this past fall in NYC.

Well ain’t this a hum-dinger! Alan opens up with “Sargasso in Space” off The Longwalls‘ classic 2012 EP, Careers in Science; follows it up with a tease from the band’s forthcoming 6th release with (soon-to-be-blistering) “Red Shirts;” slows things down with “Rukia” from 2015’s Gold Standard; and then closes things out going way back to 2010’s “Playwrights” off the Dark Academy EP. Good on ya, Alan!!

All that and some very kind accompanying words from our pal Ryan’s Smashing Life! He writes:

One of the East Coast’s best sounds / Sneaky Good! – Alan and the band play dark pop songs influenced by cultural tides, historical figures and social ephemera and this set was no different. The Longwalls last two full-length albums, The Gold Standard and Kowloon are two sides of the same study of coins – demonstrating just how good they really are. This January, The Longwalls dropped a live album you need to hear (here!)

More kind words on The Longwalls’ “Live at The Bridge”

“These guys don’t get nearly the recognition they deserve and I like to believe in a different time and place you’d be reading about them in Rolling Stone……and in that different time and place Rolling Stone is still cool and relevant.”

Wow.. the fine folks at Nine Bullets have blown us away with their stellar review of The Longwalls live album “Live at The Bridge.” It’s heartening to know that amidst the indie rock din people can still find their way to the smaller bands and allow themselves to be blown away by something as homespun as what we do here at Static Motor. Have a read, have a listen, and have a look. And a huge thank you to Nine Bullets for supporting our music.

Kinds words for The Longwalls’ “Live at The Bridge”

The fine folks at Floorshime Zipper Boots have some nice very things to say about The Longwalls live album / video “Live at The Bridge.”

“Live albums are, at best, difficult affairs that try to recreate the precision of recorded tracks, coupled with the spontaneity and energy of a live performance. This album does this with aplomb, transporting the listener to the front row of a great experience”

Very nice indeed. Thank you!!! Read more.

The Longwalls - Live at The Bridge

We’re so very pleased to release the first Static Motor live album—The Longwalls Live at The Bridge—featuring 10 audio tracks and stellar black and white video. It was a special night for all who were there and we’ve worked to try and capture the spirit of that special night back in March when the snow was still stacked oh so high. We hope this release brings it all back a bit. Download the audio here on SMR (or Bandcamp or SoundCloud) and check out the live video on YouTube. Wow, what a year. And thanks as always for supporting local music. Enjoy!
