Live video. Kind words. Alan represents The Longwalls at Outlaw Roadshow 2016 this past fall in NYC.

Well ain’t this a hum-dinger! Alan opens up with “Sargasso in Space” off The Longwalls‘ classic 2012 EP, Careers in Science; follows it up with a tease from the band’s forthcoming 6th release with (soon-to-be-blistering) “Red Shirts;” slows things down with “Rukia” from 2015’s Gold Standard; and then closes things out going way back to 2010’s “Playwrights” off the Dark Academy EP. Good on ya, Alan!!

All that and some very kind accompanying words from our pal Ryan’s Smashing Life! He writes:

One of the East Coast’s best sounds / Sneaky Good! – Alan and the band play dark pop songs influenced by cultural tides, historical figures and social ephemera and this set was no different. The Longwalls last two full-length albums, The Gold Standard and Kowloon are two sides of the same study of coins – demonstrating just how good they really are. This January, The Longwalls dropped a live album you need to hear (here!)

The Longwalls’ lend to track to “Keep Safe Boston 2016,” a benefit compilation for Fenway Health

Keep Safe Boston 2016 Compilation For Fenway Health is dedicated in loving memory to all lives affected by the events of June 12, 2016 at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The Longwalls are proud to have lent the track “Too Many Prayers” from 2015’s Gold Standard to the cause. Stream some tracks below, then visit the comp on Bandcamp and, please, pay what you can for this most worthy cause featuring so many great artists. Thanks!

Video Premiere: The Longwalls – Zombies! – Live at The Bridge Sound and Stage

Big thanks to our pal Derek at Visions of the Unexcused for premiering the first video from  The Longwalls – Live at The Bridge. The Longwalls classic track Zombies! gets the acoustic treatment here complete with mandolin, washboard and even a little harmonica. Good times were had back in March when this was all shot during the release show for Gold Standard (there was lots of snow.. and lots of beer as Derek points out). 10 songs have been selected from the show and the full video (along with free audio download) will be ready in December. Stay tuned. Happy Halloween. And #stayinthehousecarl

Kind words on The Longwalls from Ryan’s Smashing Life

As The Longwalls get ready to head back to The Bowery Electric in NYC for The Outlaw Roadshow 2015, Ryan’s Smashing Life has posted some very kind words on the band and their latest album—Gold Standard—writing, “One of the east coast’s standout pop acts, you aren’t going to want to miss what I’ve already come to describe as “Boston’s best kept secret” for good reason.. they make dark pop and sugarly death songs better than most anybody else I know.” We love us some sugarly death songs! Yum. Come get some Saturday 10/17 at The Outlaw Roadshow 2015.

On tap for the fall: new KvS, Longwalls and… Gatsby?

The Longwalls (c) Alex Budnitz

Wow, what a summer. And now, back to school. Our own Kurt von Stetten has completed his 10th solo album in 10 years! Damn. It’s called Bon Fortuna and is slated for an October release date. Meanwhile, The Longwalls will soon be releasing Live at the Bridge—a live concert video shot/recorded during their Gold Standard release show back in March. It’s black and white and looks and sounds great. The band is also working on some new material and will record a couple songs this fall. Look out for a digital single by the end of the year. And, 10 years after its release, Gatsby’s Floods + Fires has been touched up and remastered with 2 previously unreleased tracks added in. Look out for Floods + Fires [Turbo Edition] later this fall. All that and more… stay tuned!

A crazy few weeks for The Longwalls!

Well.. that was fun!!

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to The Bridge Sound & Stage for The LongwallsGold Standard release show! (Check out this preview from MusicBoxPete). It was an amazing time full of amazing faces from near and far… lots of love in the room (photos). Thank you!

Leading up the show, The Longwalls appeared on WEMF’s Outlaw Roadshow Radio with Ryan Spaulding to chat music, drink whiskey and play a few acoustic tunes.  Play the podcast here (scroll).

A few days after the show, The Longwalls paid a visit to WMBR’s Pipeline for a quick chat and full band performance. Listen here (via iTunes… it’s the March 10 episode). While setting up for said performance, The Longwalls were interviewed by the Huntington News. It’s a cool piece, check it out.

What else… a video is in the works for the track “Home,” and the whole release show was recorded (audio and video), so look for some of that down the road. And.. more shows in the future as soon as we can book ’em. Thank you!!!!

Early love for The Longwalls’ “Gold Standard”

Two of our favorite Boston blogs—Redline Roots and Visions of the Unexcused—have offered some kind words on the new Longwalls record, Gold Standard.

Redline Roots writes, “Gold Standard further presents the band as a strong force that produces some catchy songs with a bit of a punk attitude and grit.”

Visions of the Unexcused praised the record calling it, “a near perfect tome of Americana-infused fuzz pop.

Thank you kindly!
