Discover some new artists. All these singers and bands excel in writing cool, gorgeous songs. They showcase vocal range and musical prowess. Impossible not to listen to it from start to finish again and again and again. Every song impresses with its songwriting, composition and ability to move, soothe or groove.
Wow, it’s amazing when people take the time to listen and comment. Makes all the work worth while. Check out Amy Steele for Entertainment Realm as she discusses her tastes in music and then gives track by track commentary for the entire album. Very cool! Download the album for free!
We’re oh so proud to release the first every Static Motor compilation— “Full Circle – Commonwealth Women Up Front.” Born from a SoundCloud group, the comp features 10 tracks of 10 tracks of solo artists and bands with a female voice up front. Quiet introspective lo-fi folk, lush dream pop, surfy rock, fuzzed out guitars and synths. Amazing vocals start to finish. The fine folks at Floorshime Zipper Boots write, “expertly curated and features compelling music from start to finish. It’s a great way to sample the best of Boston’s female driven indie scene.” Check it out!
“These guys don’t get nearly the recognition they deserve and I like to believe in a different time and place you’d be reading about them in Rolling Stone……and in that different time and place Rolling Stone is still cool and relevant.”
Wow.. the fine folks at Nine Bullets have blown us away with their stellar review of The Longwalls live album “Live at The Bridge.” It’s heartening to know that amidst the indie rock din people can still find their way to the smaller bands and allow themselves to be blown away by something as homespun as what we do here at Static Motor. Have a read, have a listen, and have a look. And a huge thank you to Nine Bullets for supporting our music.
“Live albums are, at best, difficult affairs that try to recreate the precision of recorded tracks, coupled with the spontaneity and energy of a live performance. This album does this with aplomb, transporting the listener to the front row of a great experience”
As The Longwalls get ready to head back to The Bowery Electric in NYC for The Outlaw Roadshow 2015, Ryan’s Smashing Life has posted some very kind words on the band and their latest album—Gold Standard—writing, “One of the east coast’s standout pop acts, you aren’t going to want to miss what I’ve already come to describe as “Boston’s best kept secret” for good reason.. they make dark pop and sugarly death songs better than most anybody else I know.” We love us some sugarly death songs! Yum. Come get some Saturday 10/17 at The Outlaw Roadshow 2015.
“Another fantastic von Stetten album… it very well be his most solid work to date, and that’s saying quite a bit.” That’s what our pals at Visions of the Unexcused have to say about the new Kurt von Stetten album, Bon Fortuna. Meanwhile Bishop and Rock call Bon Fortuna, “a dreamy, multi-layered and methodical record.“
“‘Spanish Ship’ is still a powerful statement. It’s bold, hard-hitting, well-crafted, and at well under three-minutes it doesn’t outstay its welcome. Plus, it’s not even the best track on the LP, which shows you just how good this guy is.” Wow, kind words indeed from The Sound of Confusion. Thank you! KvS‘ Bon Fortuna is on sale 10/6.
Leading up the show, The Longwalls appeared on WEMF’sOutlaw Roadshow Radio with Ryan Spaulding to chat music, drink whiskey and play a few acoustic tunes. Play the podcast here (scroll).
What else… a video is in the works for the track “Home,” and the whole release show was recorded (audio and video), so look for some of that down the road. And.. more shows in the future as soon as we can book ’em. Thank you!!!!
